You always wonder how far the root system runs on these plants. This is a picture of roots coming out the bottom of my retaining wall in the patch that I built up. There is 3-4' of soil vertically and this is 10' out to the side from the stump. The other interesting thing is that the first two secondaries didn't form on this side so the roots aren't even coming from secondaries. Just incredible.
