Rain used to run down the hill from the barn and wash gullies into the patch. Two years ago, Papa Rea cut a trench down one side and across the lower end. With the downpours we've had, the trenches have kept a lot of water from going across the patch. I wonder if this moat will keep the groundhogs out!!
