As I was pulling off the plastic from the cold frame, guess who came in to join the party, Mr Squash Bug! These things must smell these plants from a mile away, haven't seen a sign of one all year and as soon as the plant is uncovered, its like a magnet. Luckily I've sprayed with Merit in the past 24 hours, hopefully I'm covered.
Speaking of pests and diseases, I continue to regret that overdose soil drench a week ago. I burned a couple of leaves, and had too much nitrogen in the drench as well. Result is some monster sized leaves that appeared pretty puffy to start out. I watered a bit more then normal to try and leach some N out of the soil and eventually the leaves started to look a bit better.
Note to self, careful how much love you give when feeding. Better to go light then too heavy.
