with the wettest april in history of chicago and close to record coldest, the cover crop has still grown nicely and will get chopped to 2 inches high this weekend. its well over a foot tall in warmest spots along fence line and close to 12" on this south end. its shortest closer to house where shaded from morning sun. it has prevented erosion and will be left in for weed suppession until plants start dictating when to stop mowing it and eventually till under and ammend these perimeter areas. it is 40 degrees with cold wind this morning and green house air temp at 6 am was 68 degrees and soil temp 74 with cables doing there thing. spring will finally be here this weekend and misting heads will go above transplants to be used if needed. small pieces of shade cloth will be used in greenhouses to acclimate when 75 degree temps next week means it will be at least 90 in greenhouses. silly spring. silly hobby. silly shaz. lol.
