This year I will execute on a few big lessons learned and hopefully the results will show.
First and foremost, patch size. Last year I grew two plants in a 350 square foot patch. The 594.5 (1382 Bryson x 1432 Northrup) only had about 180 square feet. This year I am expanding the patch to 600 square feet with only one plant.
Second, disease and pest preventative maintenance. Last year I was in reaction mode all year. My plants had Powdery Mildew by the last week of July. Growth was after July was nearly to a halt. Somehow my 594.5 put on weight a couple pounds at a time through September with no plant to support it. This year I will need to get some preventative maintenance tips from my fellow VGPGA growers!
