The star of my patch continues to be a newcomer. Lordy, Lordy the 440 turns 40. The nice shape and color continues with consistent daily gains. I never get those huge daily numbers that I have been hearing reported nor are my numbers anywhere near some of those 8, 9 and 1000 pound pumpkins I hear circulating out there already. I guess I am still old school with a slow and steady pace closer to the 20-25 pound a day range. I have to hope the warm weather continues into the fall if I want to finally hit that 1000 pound mark with a PUMPKIN. The 440 is a beauty and I have big bag full of seeds left. Fingers crossed that mother nature cooperates and I can keep the small plant healthy and the pumpkin stress free.
