Pumpkins are chugging along and approaching the 30 day mark so time to see what they are made of. As I was thinking about doing some measuring it made me think of the old days and how I always used the kids to pose next to the pumpkins for comparison. Our first serious efforts were grown in 2001 and we were lucky enough to have Don Langevin use one of my photos in his How to Grow World Class Giant Pumpkins 3 Book. It was a thrill to have it included and a keep sake for me. Here is the picture that was used of Alex in 2001. It was next to our eventual 797 pound pumpkin that came in 5th place in Altoona at our very first weigh off... we (I) was hooked.
