Now for the bad news. I did thorough stump and vine inspections today and found this trouble spot on the 275 Van Hook only 12 to 18 inches from the stump. This is the time of year to start to be on the lookout for vine rot if you live somewhere hot and humid. It got into this crack that looked healed over. I got out my surgical gear and hydogen peroxide and went to work cleaning it out, trying to cut parallel to the vine as much as possible while still cleaning out all the rot. Rinsed it with peroxide, ran the 350 feet of extension cord up to the patch and set a fan on it. I'll be keeping a close eye on it, in my experience you rarely get it all the first time.
