Very hard frost here last night. All weather sights said outside temp was 40 dgs. My kitchen window thermometer said 33. All ridges on garden furrows and little piles of compost and manure all had frost on them. The deck was white with frost.There was ice on the 16x16 hoophouse. To top things off the heater in the greenhouse didn't kick on. Temp. in there was 42 dgs. I wouldn't mind so much if it were October but it is almost June. Neighbors that have already planted are starting to lose plants due to the wet and cold. No relief in sight until mid next week. 1211.5 Holland;1400 Holland; 1462 Holland are all in ground and doing well despite the cold. Need better coldframe/hoophouses for next year. 1056(double vine) and 892 Holland are still waiting to be planted as is my 204 Dawson watermelon. 209 Cantrell damped off after first true leaf.
