I went out to the vegetable garden today, to check on the squash and cucumbers I planted last week. Sure enough they were up and they were completely infested with cuke beetles. I had to act quick because with an infestation that bad I don't think the young seedlings would have lasted much longer.
The younger the plant is, the more vulnerable it is to a real heavy infestation. The older plants build up a natural resistance which makes the plants slightly less tasty to the cuke beetles. The Cuke beetles are disease vectors and most of the viruses are passed when the plants are very young. Control is very important!
