I noticed about 2 feet down it was solid clay. I dug down three feet, put all the clay to the side, mixed in some perlite, vermiculite, some gypsum and a little compost. I'm now mixing in all the patch soil. Some how this has to be better then solid clay for the root system. A tractor would sure be nice about now! :)
