the little cut you see above the stem is where he started to saw her open to get the seeds out. Marc and I were up to help out. Nice fruit that could have been better had the plant held up to the nasty disease everyone experienced in this are of Iowa. Several growers ended up with none or one fruit...Nick was lucky to get this plant to hold on. August 14th we pruned off 500 square foot of plant all plant before the fruit. Laeving only plant after the fruiton covering maybe 100 Square fruit. it was so diseased we wanted it out of the patch and the main was so sadly softening that it was pointless to try and save it so we cut it off at the fruit and left the rest and hoped he held on so he could at least get a weight. Which we did October 1st at Anamosa . Taping 165 X 98X98 361 and est of 983" he actually weighed 1154.5 good enough for 7th..WOOOO HOO!! that a boy Nick!!!
