With the coldest and wettest summer (with least sun hours) ever recorded in Dutch history, only three growers made it to the weigh-off, which meant they all won a prize. We put on the best show we could with a wide variety of giant veg, but the pumpkin results were pathetic, except for Joost Wouters who got a new personal best.
The top three were my 1421 Stelts at 957lbs, on the right Arnold Horde's 1059 Vincent-McGill at 681lbs (he wasn't there) and on the left Iwan Horde's 731 Huff* squash at 500lbs. Iwan and Joost's fruit all went around 15% heavy, while mine (grown inside) went more than 18% light.
Note the scars on the other pumpkin and squash, caused by a severe hail storm they went through.
