Here is Kitty's stem situation as of last night - no more rot apparant, but it looks like the vine continues to split lengthwise away from the pumpkin. You can see that the shoulders are pushing on the vine on both sides of the stem as the pumpkin grows. I actually lowered the vine the other day since raising it would just put more pressure on it, and I've loosened up as many side vines as I can past the pumpkin to try to put some slack in the vine. The stem connection to the vine is so low to the ground that I might have raised it too much initially. I'm not sure what else I can do at this point but try to keep everything rot-free and pray. So far, praying is working pretty well because............
