And again on last years plant here is what it would look like actually attached to a main vine and doing some lifting. we stay back a leaf joint or 2 depending on the situation and sometimes we add a second sling either ahead of or behind the fruit depending on what is needed. we adjust some tension to the bungies about every 5 or 7 days depending on what stage of growth you are at but by the time the fruit reaches day 40 your pretty much done with having to adjust. You can see the slings down around the vine and the bungies coming down. If you look closely you can see the one to the right is after the fruit . The stem of the fruit is pretty much centered up in the picture .
I hope this gives you an idea on How we manage our stem stress and the advantages to this over say the blocking method. both work well but this way we don't have to be as diligent with watchign it daily.
