now here Marc takes the 1X2 4 foot long and attaches one end to the post #1. using the 1 5/8" drywall screw. centering crossmember across the 30 inch gap between the post. leaving a bit stick out each end. The 2 flat sides should line up fairly close if you drove them in paying attention to keeping them parallel...
