I ran 3 trials of test plants. Each trial ran for 10 days. The results were that light deprivation makes LESS roots and longer weaker plants than the control plants. No additional roots were formed on the stem by burying it. Leaf growth was smaller and slower on light deprived plants than ontrols.
A parallel trial was also run with mycorrhizae. Even in this short trial, the plants with the mycorrhizae had visibly more roots than the control plants.
