First of all “Happy New Year” to all our fellow growers.
As usual we thought we had run out of ideas to improve our patch last year but were totally wrong and this year there will be a lot of changes.
First of all we ve decided to cut down the number of plants in the polly tunnel from four to three, which will give us bigger plants.
We will be making our hoop houses at least three times bigger. This is to give our plants higher night temps for longer in the spring and avoid “checking” the growth.
The biggest change of all will be steam sterilising all the soil on the patches. We’ve had to do a load of pipe work over the winter and we have a special heat resistant plastic sheet on order.
Anyway more of that later in the spring. Here is our patch with a load of second hand peat ready to rotavate in.
