last of the big girls off the mater plants. the one to the left is 17" around off a big zac and the other is the nicely shaped brutus magnus tomatoes and this one at 16". i let them get a little riper than normal on the vine as they were not going to be killer size. i will just leave them as estimates with the measurements on the label because all i want them for is seeds for the gtg and for my self for next year. i will start a lot of brutus magnus plants just for my mom and her neighbor's cuz they all love the shape and size of the brutus magnus tomatoes. they all look like perfect mini pumpkins. they want them for eaters and i will obliege. i will mostly try my 5.58 timm x self x self seeds from my 3.08 shenoha and 2.64 shenoha next year and maybe get some new seeds from some big'ns grown this year from growers on bp.com and maybe try some harp genetics too. same for next year, 5 plants. i already have a nice system set up in that corner and will ammend it more than i did this year where needed in that back corner with heavy on gypsum and calcite calcium along with everything else the pumpkins get. it won't be long before i start gathering 75-100 brown yard bags of maple leaves to chop up the first week the patch dries out once the clearing begins october 4th for next year. time to start gearing up on some fall kelp, cornmeal, and i will spray a bottle of aerify plus on each planting spot after all the shredded maple leaves get tilled in so the kelp, humic acid, and molasses in the aerify plus help re-feed the disturbed colony and get them eating those leaves and the soil loosener gets down deep before the winter. all the rest of the ammendments like last year will get repeated in the spring. gonna take a soil test this fall for the first time in 4 years. i have been working on soil structure and now will start do dial it in for better balance. i knew i had plenty of everything needed and then some, but the balancing act must come into play.
