Well getting things ready for the Iowa State fair other veggies. Not much to take this year, tried to do things different and it did not work out. The cabbage I started later to have them hang on till fair time but the heat was to much.Never did get long beans started they were washed out several times by storms.Cantaloupe plants are huge but no cantaloupe from the heat.Same with the field pumpkins. Onions rotted from the heat and rain and they were my best plants ever at April.
This is all we have going this year. 2 jumbo watermelon, 2 long gourds, 2 jumbo zucchini. 2 jumbo tomatoes. Ready for next year.
The fall pumpkins and melons are growing but slow. We have 6 pumpkins from 225-445 pounds. Most will not get any bigger from stump rot to vine rot.
The fall melons have slowed also, the 235 Leonard has almost stopped for some reason at about 115 pounds and was growing so well but plant was flooded several times. The 267 Edwards is still gaining 1.5-2 pounds a day and is 79 cir.31 inches long.
