Due to being sick, I've not been doing much gardening this past week; besides, it's been over 100 every day. I've started irrigating each area every third day. Lots of new vine growth. First female flower appeared on this new growth, then flowers exhibiting both male and female part, then finally male flowers, too. It's time to let Mother Nature take over. I may help out with some pollinations now, but the bees are going to have the biggest share of this job. Barring an early frost like last year (September 29), I should have just about 60 days till first frost. Maybe they can do it on their own. My three remaining pumpkins are still growing, two barely; the Bhaskaran gained about 15# in two days. Not a prizewinning gain, but she's only 32 days old. Maybe we'll hit 500#. That's a looooong way from 1,000# goal. I don't think pumpkins like 100+ temperatures for days and days on end.
