April on the 873 naylor 2009 (1147 shenoha x 1119 mcmullen) on day 48 today estimated at 835 lbs. the hole in the stem vine union is a weird thing. it is where the tendril was on top and the tap root white knob on the bottom. the area between the two internally and externally fissured and had minor browning with no rot over 10 days ago and then completely tunneled through between the 2. it is now nice actually cuz the wound has the fan blowing through it similar to the cleaned fissure hole and the drain hole i put in the 991 main by the stump. kept completely dry and rot free, both of these areas have healed very nice and the surrounding areas become enlarged and grow more i believe to compensate. i can reach in both areas with my fingers to coninual monitor firmness and health in the areas and apply captan. the area around th hole in this pic is becoming a huge knobby section. most of the flow from that big ass bottle thick vine going into the pumpkin goes directly into the stem on the right side in the pic mostly hidden by the fan and the hole is not impeding any growth whatsover from the front half of the plant coming through that main vine. very strange and i am glad the 10 percent bleach with q tips along with captan and continual 24 hour a day fanning has kept what could have been huge drains on the plants to minimal losses.
