When I went out to check on the pumpkins this morning, I noticed a funky smell when I was looking at the stem on Marvin. Grayish streaks were forming ..almost looking like mold. I made the decision to cut the fruit off and sure enough, there was a mushy spot on the bottom about the size of a dinner plate. I have a small baby on a side vine I let the bees pollinate a couple of days ago. I think I'll leave the plant and try one more attempt on this thing.
