took some ott measurements this morning after waiting 4 days to see how the 2 big'ns left are doing. the heat has them chugging again and they both are doing pretty good for this early on. "April" on the 873 naylor 2009 on day 22 put on 102 lbs in 4 days averaging 25.5 lbs per day and is 98-62-61 = 221" ott or 237 lbs. it jumped from 5" to about 6" circ per day the last 2 in in the heat. been using the under canopy watering system running in the a.m and the over head rain tower cooling and watering the plants on a timed basis all day until about 5 pm in this hot dry windy scorching temps. "Clegg" on the 991 averaged 5.75" circ per day the past 4 days and is sitting at 101-64-59 = 224" ott and estimated at 246 lbs on day 24 and averaged 28.5 lbs per day the last 4 days. kenny didn't get any measurements today as the plant is having a hard time in this heat without the established root system of the stump and 11' of main and secondaries that got whacked. i finally got the realization at how slow the secondaries are growing as the plant and pumpkin push the remaining plant to the max that this one will just be a halloweeny for a friend at this rate. it is ok and i am already over it completely by now. i will continue to train the slow growing secondaries and to spray the plant the same and keep it healthy so not to spread diseases to the other 2. maybe i can salvage 500 to 600 pounds for a good carver.
