adapt. what else can you do. after seeing that kenny only grew 1.5" inches circ yesterday and also that the entire half of the plant after the girdled and half rotted main vine is wilting bad in the heat due to the pumpkin now taking in all the juices from those barely established root systems and the smaller leaves, i decided to act now. whack!!!!! i cut every secondary from the wounded vine back to the stump, 5' from the main on each side. this opened up room for 4 secondaries i will curl into the area established on one side of the plant and 3 small slowly developing secondaries on the other side will also curl around and fill the space. and from those i wil let teritaries also fill the gaops. if the main completely rots in that section, the rest of the 5' on each side left in will also get whacked for more curled around secondaries and their teritiaries. the ones on the main will continue to add a little through the bottlenecked main in the mean time that is no longer soft and has firmed up. but at this point it is less than an inch across the narrowest point. hells bells, when the plant throws you a curveball, throw one back. lol. the pumpkin will hopefully slowly grow still with time and when the rest of the patch is filled back in, hopefully i can salvage some late big steady gains and turn this tragedy into a comeback story...like kenny powers in the show. no wonder why i named this pumpkin after that jack ass character!!!!!!!!!!!!
