survived another round of storms last night with no damage and just another heavy rain. we got 2 more days of this wicked weather left and hopefully the pattern changes. yesterday at 3 pm this 991 pumpkin was 21" circ. this morning it is 23.5" which is nice and means it is on its way. it was a very small female on the day of pollination compared to the 1147 which was the biggest female at pollination i have ever seen. this one is at 14' and the set at 7 days old is right next to it and and the 3rd was pollinated yesterday. the first one has won the spot based on 7 day measurements, position on the vine, and the fact that it grew 2.5 inches in 15 hours. the other 2 are staying on as shock absorbers until these heavy rains quit and until i terminate the main vine. this pumpkin is now known as "Clegg" which is a character from the hbo show "east bound and down." clegg is kenny powers best bud on one of my favorite comedies of all time. hoping for big things from Clegg.
