For the last couple of weeks I have felt that something was not quite right with the onions but couldn’t put my finger on the problem. Last night I worked it out and after a few choice words and kicking myself this is what I found. The big support ring on the outside of the pot has been too high which has pushed the leaves up and restricted the new leaves which you can clearly see in the photo. One oinon that was smaller than the rest a few weeks ago has not been affected as it had a tall neck, this onion has grown an extra 1.5” in cir compared to the others. I have let the supports down and I hope they will start to grow again. On reflection I’ve only been growing onions for two years and its better I learn this lesson earlier rather than later.
