my dog oreo presented me with a gift this morning as she has done in the past. too bad it wasn't the rabbit that dug the hole behind the 1147. right by the door this morning was the squirrel she has been battling all spring. this squirrel had tempted fate playing chicken with her too many times. the squirrel had pissed on the dog from the tree too many times and the annoying chirping from right out of the dogs reach was just enough to keep this battle going intensely for a while now. this morning the dog won the battle and the squirrel lost its life. it was either the bravest squirrel i had ever seen or the stupid squirrel. i didn't see the kill, but i guess it was one false slip off the dew and fog covered garage while jumping for the tree that did it in. or the dew covered power line crossing from over the garage to the house. as far as the rabbit, i put hair from my hair brush, hair from the dog brush, brushed the dog a bunch of times and put out more hair, and then used rabbit repellent with coyote piss. haven't seen seen the rabbit again. greenhouses are coming down in a couple hours and it is perfect timing cuz the vines would have reached their limits by next weekend and the 90 degree heat will be here tomorrow. vines are just about 4' today on all 3 plants. the 1147 has weirded out on me this week and has put out multiples on just one side of the plant. there are 2 of everything on one side of the plant at a leaf junction, then normal singles on the other side at the next junction, then back to double again on the same side that doubled up, and now back to a single again i can see in the main tip cluster. i do not see it posing too much of a problem as long as the females developed single wise on the one side throwing singles. hopefully it will straighten back out to totally normal. i will prune the weakest secondary in the double side and then all terts off that one. still undecided if i keep the 2 leaves or whack one. silly hobby. i love it.
