i just woke up to wtf moment. i went out to unzip greenhouse vents and re-stake the mains with bamboo, and what did i see? a rabbit dug a hole about 6" behind my 1147 stump. i never had problems with rabbits, but the space heaters were running last night and she must have decided what better warm loose soil than this to call home. i removed all grass she already had packed in the hole, repacked the hole with dirt, put some dog hair from my dogs brush in the area, and took about 50 bamboo stakes and encircled the back of the plant. i am sure she did some major root damage that i am not all too happy about since we got temps in the high 80s less than 2 days away. i gave the plant a drink to help compensate for the loss and i will get some rabbit bait today while at work and she will not bother me no more. i hope. not sure if d-con works on rabbits, but i will try it along with what ever rabbit repellant home depot has. i am glad she did not decided to eat and was more worried about digging the hole and stuffing it with grass. i found the entrance hole under the greenhouse where she burrowed in and secured that area too. never a dull moment in this hobby, but this is a first for me.
