Well our first year of growing giant pumpkins is off to a good start. Even with our late start(soaked seeds on May 10th)five out of six plants are up and doing well. This year we are growing--Pugh 1053-08, Pugh 1146.5 09, Breznick 1055 06, 943 Dixon 09(which so far is growing like crazy) and 1182 Ewing 09. We started a 1109.5 Taylor but it never came up. I just started a 1191 Barker 09 to take it's place. I am sure it is very late to start another seed but I want a extra back up and maybe a strong pollinator.
It is funny I never thought of myself as a "gardner" but I am hooked on this pumpkin growing. I read all the blogs, read books, check my seeds and patch several times a day. I am so hooked on giant pumpkins(Thanks alot Cindy in Littlerock). I can't wait for fall to see my first harvest.
