Well, I have been resisting the urge to start a diary this year, but i suppose it is time. Last years diary still stings. It turned out to be a documentation of failure. I like the diary because it allows me to look back at past seasons and remember how i was doing then - and it gives me a bit of a link to some folks that I know which allows me a bit of a connection that way. I will post pics of the patch and the plants over the next couple days.

Here is how my season has started. I am growing 6 this year. I have the following plants in the ground. 985 Werner, (2) 1544.5 Revier, 1408 Daletas,
1185 Daletas, 1059 Vincent McGill, (2) 1470 Urena, 1566 Rodonis, 762 Rodonis, 1278 Raunig. That is 11 plants in the ground. The planting dates were spread out over about 3 weeks starting around the 20th of April. All the plants currently look pretty good. I had only one seed that didn't make it. The 1420 Larue came up with some sort of seed rot that effected the first several leaves, Then it normalized - but was very stunted and extremely slow.

For those of you that don't know me. My name is Rod Raunig. This is my fourth year growing. I live in Washougal, Washington- which is just outside of Vancouver Washington - which is just across the Columbia river from Portland Oregon. My goal for the year is to break 1400lbs. But anything over 1278 would be just fine. My secondary goal is to have enough large pumpkins to make the California circuit this fall. That would mean having 4 pumpkins over 1000...

Welcome to my process - I hope you find it engaging
