See we do get snow here … sort of. Those be the Organ mountains to my East. Mountainous areas have many different microclimates do to the various elevations. It can easily be 20 or more degrees cooler and with different vegetation (AKA trees) then here in the desert plain. Just a couple of miles to the west is the fertile Rio Grande valley which is slightly different too (including pesky mosquitoes which we don't have!)
