Today high winds rocked Littlerock, WA. I knew it was going to be bad when I came home from work and a huge pine tree had just fallen down in my front pasture and limbs were scattered along the driveway. I immediately went to the patch and started putting hoop houses back together. The fronts had all blown off with binder clips scattered everywhere and plastic flapping. It wasn't until about 7 PM that things settled down. I went back out then and re-fixed everything. Happy to report the Puyallup Fair Pumpkin Palace remained intact the whole time. Despite the open-ended hoop houses today, all pumpkins looked fine and were unaffected, probably because they're pretty small and close to the ground at this point. If the wind had gotten into the Palace however, it could've been catastrophic since that pumpkin is so huge. It looks like the storm is over, and tomorrow will bring partly sunny skies.
