Planted the Barker 1191 tonight and made a mini cloche over it. I put it in an empty spot in the middle corner of the patch between the other hoop houses, so it will grow towards the husband's plant. Also gave all pumpkins some liquid bone meal, liquid kelp/potash and some of my 4-3-3 organic fertilizer. Next, I weeded inside of the Puyallup Fair Pumpkin Palace. Finally, I used my pitch fork to turn the soil all around the "Palace" before the tiny weeds took hold. The soil is still fluffy, since I've been fairly religious about using my patch shoes and walk boards, that I shouldn't have to rototill again if I do a little bit every night. I hope the worms are happy; they'll live to see another day. I hear that my 1467 Perham is looking fine, as well as my 1502 Wallace. I'll get them on Saturday when Ron and I meet after my horse show. It's looking like the 4th plant may be the 1164 Finders; it's the biggest and most aggressive of the back up plants I started. I'm happy to grow it, because Frank has been quite helpful reading my soil reports and offering advice.
