nice deep soaking rains are helping to incorporate and mix my ammendments along with the added 4" of ted's black gold organimix compost. the final 3 yards of the 15 delivered still need to be placed in 2 corners, but the majority of the patch is done and was finished last weekend. i will till it in when it dries up on sunday and be done with it. the greenhouses will go back over their planting spots on sunday and remain in place until removal around june 1st. i had moved the greenhouses to the corners temporarily while the addition of the compost and ammendments. this worked out nice with these deep soaking rains. now those corner areas under the greenhouses are still dry for the last 3 yards and that soil can be worked in easily this weekend. here is a pic of the giant tomato sprouts at 11 days since soaking and planting. they all popped by 6 days, and here are the keepers after the culling process of each 2" pot. survival of the fittest. got one brutus maximus sprout resembling its fierce sounding name. first true leaves starting to show on the first ones that sprouted. light doses of neptunes for a week and they will be culled further down to the best 30 and tranplanted in 5" pots with my patch soil next week. the remaining 2" pots with weaker plants will be given away for eaters to my friends and neighbors.
