2010 CROSSING STRATEGIES

i am hoping to do a 901 x 991, a 991 x 901, and a 1147 x 901.

all 3 seeds in the crosses have 842 genetics in varying amounts in them which i like. all of them have the 723, 846, 845, and 898 genes in various forms.

by making a 991 x 901 and/or a 901 x 991, i will be creating crosses that have all four of the 723, 846, 845, and 898 genes from both female and male sides. that is pretty cool.

the last cross of the 1147 x 901 is just my idea of taking the 842 x 1068 genes from the (1041 x self) 1147 and matching them with the 901 that is 50% the opposite of 1068 x 842. again this will be matching up similar genes from both the male side and female sides like a semi-reverse cross.

these working strategies can all be traced back to me copying al eaton's reverse crossing of the 842 and 1236 crossed together to make the 1301 and then crossing that back into the 842 again to get the 1446. i like the strengthening of lines approach from both male and female sides and the reverse crossing and back crossing ideas.

and besides that the other reasons are the 991 and 901 kick ass, and i have my own personal reasons for growing my own 1147 shenoha seed that produced a 24% heavy kin. i would like to see it go big n heavy with a nice 901 pollinator to boot. i like hearing about the 901 possibly becoming the next big and better 898 super pollinator. hopefully i can help prove that theory out more in 2010.

gonna get one more 991 at auction and then i will have backup seeds for all 3 in case of germination failures.
