The crack in 672 hurt. It hurt bad, but like a wise grower once said "it is what it is." I believe this was the largest pumpkin ever grown in WI by 14". Had the fruit not started to rot it would have easily eclipsed 430" and weighed over 1600. This pumpkin refused to slow down while it was still intact.
I had a large cheering section and I thank each and every one of you. It was a bummer to in a way let everyone down, but at least we got it to the scale. The expressions on the faces of the growers that visited my patch were priceless. Thanks guys and gals!
