Here is a shot of the stem crack area. Bear in mind this stem is about twice as wide as a coke can and very thick. It appears to be just growing away from the main vine at this point. I put anti fungal foot powder in cracks and will add more tomorrow. It is about 1 inch deep into sidewall at deepest area so hopefully compacting and raising the soil around this will stop any further growth way from main vine. I also cut a few more tap roots to reduce some more tension. Any advice is most appreciated. It is interesting that our big pumpkin last year had similiar problem and was grown in same area. I think the weight of these is just causing them to sink away from the vines. Steve
