this is "It" on day 15. "It" was 53" circ. this morning at 6:30 am. the warm weather the past 3 days kicked it from 4" on day 12 to 4.5 inches circ. on day 13 and then 6"+ circ. both day 14 and 15. lovely shape and color so far with a nice stem angle set for future shoulder clearance. too bad for the early leaf scratch scar, but oh well, all mine seem to get a scar one way or another by the end of the year. the little table behind it is over the stem and vine union. the pruned tendril and leaf have depressions that i do not like for ponding water on the stem. i cut them down tight early, but growth since then have left perminant little pockets. when the shoulders out grows the table, a cover will go over this one. "It" definately has my mind spinning with the possibilities. this is why i grow big pumpkins. to feel the dream, to hope for glory, to hook into a big'n that will take 3 more months to maybe get "It" in the boat and all the anxiety that comes with it. i told a friend yesterday that i figured out why i grow these things. it is just to feel that sense of pure wonder. i wonder how big "It" will get, i wonder if it will blow or make it to the show. i wonder if i can top my personal best. I wonder...
