Dori and I went out to her pumpkin hutt his morning. Dug in 2-40 foot soil cables, one for each plant to be started in it. Cables were placed about 6-8 inches below surface and was layed in ribbon fashion from side to side over an area of 4x6 feet. Plugged in soil cables to start heating the ground. Placed max/min thermameter and ground thermometer measureing 8 inches below surface under inverted styrofoam cooler over the north set of cables. Checked ground temperature in my hut. It was at 60 F, minimum surface temp was in upper 30s. Last night tempature got to 10F. Today is sunny and should help heat things up. The 2 pumpkin huts run north to south and are 9x20 feet. The last 2 day were stormy and windy. Was worried about blowing huts down but they survived.
