Finally got a days work done in the greenhouse, and the patch is beginning to look like a proper pumpkin patch at last.
I brought lots of old manure ( 50%) to the patch along with soil ( 30%) and peat ( 20%) old compost etc and added powered seaweed, fish blood and bone , doused the whole area with a low npk fertilizer, and a good drench of liquid seaweed.
A generous coating of Chicken manure went on top, and this was just lightly moved into the top 2/3 inches, so now I,ve got a bed about 16 inches deep X 15 ft wide X 20 ft long. Not quite the finished article yet, but getting there.
I,ll add about 10% vermiculite to the site in May before planting, and, do some soil tests in the next few weeks, just to be sure..I think one of the reasons I did so badly last year was to rely on natures manure to provide most of the plants needs, so this year, from the start I,m pushing everything to its max.
Final year at this game, I might as well go out with a bang.
