Buried the heating cables April 8th, I did a soil test and it looked pretty good, so I just threw in some blood meal, alfalfa, and seaweed. I would have started everything about a week earlier, but had surprise appendix surgery April 2nd. Really shouldn't have been digging, but we're on a time line! 1st time using heating cables, we'll see if it makes a difference, but since we've had snow as late as May, it seems like good insurance

Started the 1752 R.Kissamore and my own 1046 from 2021. And I promptly lost track of which was which. I only got three seeds out of my 1046, but if my second round of seeds pops, I may offer these seedlings to a friend, or maybe I'll just grow them all out

Second round of seeds include the 1643 Kissamore and another of my 1046, properly labeled this time. The 1643 has the 1885 Warner as the mother, which I like, and (for what it's worth) I had good luck growing Doug's seed in 21. Assuming these come up well, they will probably be my main plants. Also planted a couple 630 Baker green squash from Bryans awesome looking squash from 21

My redneck germination chamber. A big pot of water, with a sous vide set to somewhere between 90-105 depending on if it's inside or outside in the sun, keeps the tote around 82-94 degrees air temp, and plenty humid. Looks like I've got one of my mystery seeds breaking out, it'll probably come out and go under the light tomorrow

I've been garbage at keeping this updated, but here's my #2 pumpkin, at 20 dap and roaring along

And my#1 pumpkin, also off to a blazing start. Both nearly 250 lbs today. They're both going to give me trouble though, very short stems and both trying to grow over their vine

Still have two pumpkins going! Both should be over 1,000 pounds, but slowing down considerably at 70 dap. 30 days to go until the first weigh off!

1,293 lbs at the Heaps pumpkins! Good enough for a PB and 5th place. Next week is Republic, and the season is over for us!
