150 plant, 1120 Wolf is filling in nicely. Going to pollinate 1st and only chance on main vine in a day or two. Main vine snapped last night about a foot past baby pumpkin . Not a big deal as I planned on cutting main past the pumpkin anyway. Then swoop side vines out to remaining 8 feet of the area. I guess if it aborts, I will try a side vine pollination.

Hard to get a good pic of this pumpkin. Last week when looking at it, I finally said to myself, this is a big pumpkin. Took me a few years to do it, but she is taping over 2k and still gaining around 12# a day ! Unfortunately, it is and will be a dmg pumpkin. I'm letting it grow as long as I can. Hoping to get an official dmg weight at a weighoff soon.

Wednesday, September 20 View Page
We weighed the 2144 Barron last night. She went close to 12% heavy and weighed 2315#. A good healthy plant to the end, but unfortunately, I could not stop a rot spot from eventually becoming too big. I could not have grown it this big without all of my families help, especially Derriks. So it's 2315 Zappa dmg.

Hopefully I heald the phone correctly this time. 2006 Amelia Wolf day 95, still growing slowly. Another problem free pumpkin. Plant suffered from nutrient deficiency all season. Absolutely cannot believe it got this big. We named this pumpkin " The Floater", because it was in saturated soil most of the season. Plant size was approximately 750 Sq feet.

Last Wednesday we weighed the 2144 Barron pumpkin. It had what started out as a small rot spot about 5 inches away from the blossom nub. Knowing how thin the blossom area can be, I was a little hesitant to scrape too deep, fearing I would break through. I thought I had it under control several times, and even got it dried up, but then I would find rot behind the dried up flesh. I just could not win the battle. After a few weeks it finally got bigger than the 3 inch maximum, per GPC rules. I decided to let it grow as long as I could, until the rot made it into the cavity. On Sunday the 16th of September, it rotted through finally. She was still growing. I could see fresh splits on the stem side. I picked it up on Tuesday, the 19th and weighed it at the Barnesville weigh off. I taped it out to 2075 #. It weighed 2315# , which is about 11 % heavy. A big thank you to my Son Derrik for his good eyes and all his help. Also, thanks goes to the rest of my family. Everyone helps me on some way. I can't grow these with out their help. Thank you to Erik Gunstrom and Quinn Werner also. It was a great season and I learned a lot !! 2315 Zappa dmg 2023 F- 2144 Barron x m- 2405 Gunstrom
