Haven't seen the sun in a week. Been using some supplemental lighting for the first time.

One of the 2365s. I'm right about the same size as I have been the last few years at this time. I'd love a bigger plant, but we're getting frost again the next couple nights.

2493 Wolf plant is middle of the pack. One thing i have noticed with it - the leaves want to angle out. Not too happy about it, but if it still grows a good one, I won't complain. I can see it becoming much more susceptible to storms if someday we do actually get a thunderstorm again.

839 Sandercock currently the biggest since it's my earlier pollination. Probably my prettiest this year. It should be over 500#

Pulled three plants from disease so far.

The four best remaining pumpkins all have stem splits, some worse than others. The better the growth, the worse the split looks. Plants are just about all filled out.

Pulled the 1120, pulled the 1952. Suspected bacterial wilt. Going to have to take a year off.

1613 Wolf 23 DMG (2365 x sib). Lost the stem split battle, no seeds saved. This one would have finished probably 1900s if it hadn't had the stem split which led to internal rot.

Another one bites the dust. Rotted from stem split. Had been outpacing last year's numbers

Five months ago, if you had told me I was going to have a year like the Patons, I'd be pretty excited. Guess I was overdue for an off year.

1917 Wolf 23 dmg (839 Sandercock x 2006 Wolf) This one hurt. External rot spot on the lower side, likely from an infected mouse bite. One of the best looking big pumpkins I've ever seen. This one would have finished right around 2100#. Absolutely crazy considering this was grown out in the "orange patch" with little care. That 839 seed just really wanted to grow a big pumpkin. I can't imagine what it would have done in better conditions. I would put the 839 right up there with the 1885 and 2365 as the top seeds I've grown.
