My 1705 plant is one of the best that I have ever grown. Pumpkin seems to be doing very good, and the plant is still growing fast and filling in its area. Weather has been fantastic the past 2 months.

Day 30 for the 1662.5 Zappa squash. Not doing well. Only est of 387#, doing about 29# a day average the past 10 days. This plant was in the wettest area this spring and was way behind. My squash are not doing good this year.

842 Barker squash at day 40. Nothing impressive here. Around 617#, averaging 24# a day the past 10 days. I did a tissue test on this plant because I suspected a deficiency. It was deficient, but not what I expected. Very deficient in iron, and that boggles my mind. Also a little low on sulfur and copper. Did a 30 gallon drench 2 weeks ago to try to help it.

This pic will likely be sideways or upside down, sorry, Forgot to turn phone. This is a zaczilla Variety I got from the late Marv Meisner. I have tried them many years ago, but don't believe I got any mega blossoms then. They grow a nice stocky plant for sure. I have 3 plants and got 3 with 1st truss mega growing.

Day 40 for 1705 Zappa, now called , "Donald Trumpkin", still doing well. Estimate is 1064#. Averaging 44.6# a day last 10 days. 2.5 inches of rain past 3 days. Seems like it's getting a lighter color, rather than darkening up.

Had to check Moby since I had the tape measure out. Moby is dropping gains kinda quickly. Plant looks good. Possibly a stump issue. Too wet to see if it's leaking, so I Have a fan near stump to dry the soil. Est around 1118# at day 46 , down to 31# a day, past 6 days average.

Hmm, one leaf in my 4600 sq ft patch has some yellow on it . That's strange.

At 1st glance I saw a broken leaf vein. I must have done that weeding last time.

Upon closer inspection, I see what looks like frass.

After scraping the frass off, I see what looks like the tail end of a grub.

Wednesday, August 10 View Page
I only lost one leaf, no big deal. Had I let this go, it would have chewed it's way down to the side vine, and I could have eventually lost the side vine.

Day 50 for Moby, slowing down faster than i would like to see . Around 1220#, down to 26# average the past 4 days.

My Son wanted me to double check Moby again. He helped me and yet again, I did mess up taping him yesterday. It was a 10" mistake, not in my favor. I do thus every year, lol. Moby is taping out at 1398 #. Only doing around 16# a day, not 26. Bummer.

Decent one growing, but unfortunately it has 2 soft spots, and fruit flies are entering it. It will probably rot faster soon and the plant will get pulled.

Monday, August 22 View Page
This one got pollinated around the beginning of August also, and is not rotting. Have not checked it yet for growth rate.

Friday, August 26 View Page
On Wednesday I discovered a very small soft spot on the side of the blossom. Unfortunately it did rot all the way through. The blossom end was very thin right at the blossom. Not sure why it started. This was probably my most trouble free plant, and the youngest.

Cant remember if I tilted camera properly for this pic. This was my 1662.5 squash that went down. Est was around 850, it weighed around 823, so a little light. The 1652.5 produces very nicely shaped squash.

1st loss, 3 left. Everything is doing OK. Day 60 coming up tomorrow for my 1705.

Saturday, August 27 View Page
Donald Trumpkin at day 60 today, 402.5 ott, about 1431#. Gains keep dropping ast, down to 11.6# a day past 7 day average. Had a tissue test done to see if anything is off, and it certainly is off. I'm glad I tested because now I have a very good idea of what to do for next year.

Plant health is very good, nutrients are off. N and P are pretty low, on a good note, I got the iron and boron up some, over the past month.

Saturday, August 27 View Page
This plant should be the 2195 Thiel. Pumpkin is still growing, as I can see it grew back into the sand where we had pulled it out of last weekend. Powdery mildew really took off this week. Going to try to get it under control.

Saturday, August 27 View Page
Results. Not good. This new soil does not hold nutrients well. Ph may be very low. It was 5.8 last September when I first tested.

Monday, September 5 View Page
Lost another one. Sorry for the picture being crooked. This was probably my best chance at a new pb this year. The 2195 Thiel went down with a rot area on the bottom. I weighed it at 1617#. Just a little heavy to chart.

2 left, Donald Trumpkin and a squash.

All in with Trumpkin. The 1705 Zappa plant is looking great with the recent 2 fertilizer applications. Over 2 inches of rain last night. I'm very glad I did not bury any vines on this plant. About 6.5 inches of rain the past 30 days.

Monday, September 5 View Page
3 fans on Trumpkins stem and vines. It's still growing slowly, but didn't measure today.

Tuesday, September 6 View Page
Donald Trumpkin day 70 today, still averaging 11# a day past 10 days. Estimate around 1544#. Main vine taking a beating the past 3 days, tough weather.

Sunday, September 18 View Page
Lost another one. Unfortunately this was Trumpkin at day 83 yesterday, Sunday when I discovered some rot under a hair line crack in a very shallow rib valley. Too deep to be good for a weigh off. Trumpkins weight was 1665 on my scale. Beautifully shaped pumpkin. I'll do an autopsy tomorrow morning.
