The patch is tilled, going to get the soils test results soon. 3300sq ft for 3 plants. I don’t think I’m going to do a cover crop.

My Lineup for this year. I hope I can crack the 1000 pound barrier with the 1940 Ureña. I want to try to grow the 1215 for a HD. If possible I want to try to cross the 2030 with the 1940.

I got all the fertilizers I need to apply. I will hopefully apply them the coming weekend, combined with compost. I am applying 200 pounds of gypsum, 100 pounds of lime, 20 pounds of Ammonium Sulfate, 30 pounds of SOP, 40 pounds of 6-24-24, 5oz of Copper, 14oz Zinc, 1-2 ppm of boron, and finally 15 pounds of Epsom Salt. This is for about 3000sq ft, but I thinking about making the patch a bit smaller because I don't think I need 1000sq ft per plant, but I will see.

Got the plots where I want to plant ready, incase if I cant get to tilling before I level to India. I am going to India from the 4-the 27 of April, so someone else is planting my seeds.

I dropped off all the seed staring stuff to someone who is going to take care of it at the grange. They are going to start the seeds on the 15th while I am in India The grange is where I am going to grow my giant. Here is a short vid that I made about the grange: https://youtu.be/jdr-1O_r6OE

Jim, is from the Orangevale grange and he is planting my seeds. TQSM to Jason Booth for guiding me with planting the seeds. These are the instructions that I had on how to plant the seeds: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-YbdqzXXznM4pZhb9iuEuitYRitgRoi_OvPExYGZPZc/edit?usp=sharing . This photo is of the seeds soaking in the hydrogen peroxide solution for 1h.

Time for me to give an update for the past 1-2 weeks. Slow growth ngl, the temp of the soil is not able to get over 75 degrees, oh well darn it... So this is them about 2-3 days after planting,(planted on the 16th) on the 19th and they are just breaking the soil.

Time for me to give an update for the past 1-2 weeks. Slow growth ngl, the temp of the soil is not able to get over 75 degrees, oh well darn it... So this is them about 5-6 days after planting. This was taken on the 22nd. The first one to sprout was the 1215 Young. The cheap grow light wasn't going to cut it, so we got a better one.

Saturday, April 23 View Page
Soil is still not able to get over 75 degrees, oh well darn it... This is them on the 23rd and They are being positioned in first to sprout, trying the Mendi method here. All the Ureanas have popped up, but the kissamores are not doing good. I have to Kisamore's and a booth as back-up, but the backup booth was the first to sprout... Darn it. The position from now on are, three rows first with the 1965 booth + 2030 Kisamore, second with 1940 Urena, and the third with 1215 young, which is currently the best plant.

Soil is still not able to get over 75 degrees, oh well darn it... This is them on the 25th. All the Ureanas have sprouted fully. One Kisamore popped up, but the second is just coming out. The other Youngs are kinda stuck in the cot, need to see what we are going to do about that plus the first young to sprout is starting to become leggy. I think I will have a few extra seedlings because I planted 9 seeds for 3 spots... so if there is anyone in the Sacromento region, who is having a hard time with their seedlings/if they didn't sprout hit me up.

So these are my kinz. Looking ok. I think they would’ve done a bit better if they were with me. I just collected them today. Front from left to right are booth, young Ureña, and back row is Kisamore, Ureña, Ureña. So if anyone wants a 1940 Ureña, let me know. Might plant them tomorrow.

Saturday, April 30 View Page
So these are them getting the taste of some sunlight. They are also slanted, got the tip from the fox ceminar.

Not sure wat these deficiency are?

Sunday, May 1 View Page
Prolly gonna plant them today evening as tomorrow is a very nice and cool day. It’s gonna be in the 90s on wed, so I gotta get them into the ground with some shade. Can’t choose between the booth and Kisamore, so I’m gonna plant them both a few feet apart. Or I might throw the kissamore into into a pot so I can get some flowers for pollenation.

1695 booth and 2030 kissamore, left to right. Looks like booth is winning. It is actually the best and fastest growing plant in the patch. This might be easy to choose.

These are the plants right now. Looking ok, kinda feel like the leaf size is small.

This is how the entire patch looks.. We can’t use the tiller because the bridge broke. So we are slowly adding card board to the patch; hoping it will control the weeds until we can remove and till.

The plants today. They each got about a 1/8 teaspoon of mark mixes giant bloom in 1 gallon of water. This was their first feeding.

Thursday, May 12 View Page
Last few days were EXTREMELY COLD. Like it got down to 38! I should’ve made a mini green house… Oh well. Because the highs barely hit 70s there is basically no growth in the last 4 days. :C

Plants right now. They got their first one taste of real heat after the cold wave. The 1695 was wilting a LOT… I don’t think it had enough water. They got lots of water today tho.

Saturday, May 14 View Page
I gave them some fertilizer today, and I think I am going to give a similar mix every two days, except more diluted . Each plant had 1g of water with a little less than 1tsp Humic acid, little less than 1/4 tsp of calcium nitrate, and little less than 1/4tsp of mark mixes bloom. Before I added the mix I watered around, and at the base of the plant until the water started to pool.

Monday, May 16 View Page
Growth is super slow, and not a big fan of the leaf color, especially on the 1695 Booth. I’m gonna start using TM-7 on all of them for a week the next time I go. I did the same mix as last diary post, except this time with 1/2 tbsp of epsom salt. And 1/2 tbsp of calcium nitrate. I think this should help them green up, but I gotta be careful and make sure they don’t get bloated.

Soo been a while since I have updated my diary… 7th grade is gonna end in 2 days, so I will have much more time in my hands… Anyways, we got a trailer load of horse shit dropped for free from a local stable that has 160 horses. I prolly won’t use most of it this year because it is not composted… I might buy about 6yd of Finished compost for the patch this year.

This is the 1695 Booth, and the main is kinda wonkie… idk why it is like that, hope it dose not kink. You can’t really see it in the photo so I drew a arrow. I think I can slowly straighten it over the weekend.

This is the 1940 Ureña. The best of all three plants. Nice leads and it is having a good lift off. Gonna have to bury vines a week!

This is the 1215 Young. The fastest runner in the patch. A bit of kinking. Will post better photos tommorow.

Monday, May 30 View Page
All the plants have grown a bit more than 6” in the past few days. They are all almost 2 ft. Tomorrow and day after are going to 95 so I did a little chair with card board cover. The whole patch should be tilled and shade cloth put up by the end of this week. The 1215 Young’s stump cracked a couple days ago. I am keeping it dry, and might buy a fan. Hopefully the 90 degree days will dry it up.

On the slower end of the patch we have the 1685 Booth… Thus guy seems to be the problem plant. First with the weird deficiency and now with the heat. It feels like this plant has almost NO heat risistance.. it wilts so easily, but u hope that changes as more vines get burried. A few of the leafs u. The front also sadly got burnt.

Thursday, June 9 View Page
This is what the patch currently looks like. Finished tilling a couple days ago and added all amendments. Today was the first day I buried the vines on the pumpkins. I will not see them for the next 4 days because I am going to Los Angeles, so I gave them lots of water. They also got Procure fungicide for the first time.. will start to rotate that in with companion. Still need to figure out on the pesticides….

Thursday, June 9 View Page
The 1940 Ureña has been the most aggressive plant, it grew almost a foot over the last couple days. All the vines got buried with Clone-ex rooting gel, microrizea, and compost.

This is the 1215 Young. It is a really nice plant which even might be growing by faster than the 1940 Ureña. There even is a little baby king that will be coming around the 10-11 foot mark. Prolly won’t pollinate it. 1 problem with all the plants are the secondaries… almost no growth. Hopefully after I come back I will see a the secondaries starting to take oof. Hopefully I can brake the 1k barrier this year, but I have no Idea how some of your plants are fully grown aldready.. lol

I’ve not been on the sight for a couple weeks, I was busy with summer camps, but this is my lil brother sreeyans 150 sq ft patch. I have a leftover pumpkin that I am going to make him plant. My goal with this is to teach my brother how a pumpkin grows. He was sooo excited to see the patch arrive, I will get him signed up for the kids category in the Nut Tree. The patch itself is about 100 sq-ft and I might grow a bit forward too. The goal for him is a 50-100 porch pumpkin!

Pollinated the 1940 Ureña this morning, a nice 3 lober. TQSM to Brian Myers for the Male flowers for pollination! I crossed this with the 2078 skinner.

Pollinated a nice 5 Lober on the 1215 young. Hoping for a nice symmetrical 2-300 pound pumpkin. Going for the HD!

Also pollinated a 5 Lober on the 1695. Both flowers today were Selfed.

Tuesday, July 12 View Page
This is how the 1940 Ureña plant looks like. Not the most aggressive, but it is now starting to get more consistent secondaries. I also finished setting up my fert injector system finally so I was able to get about 5 tb sp of calcium nitrate to the plants. And a bit of bat and fish guano.

Tuesday, July 12 View Page
The 1695 Booth it had 3 strong strong secondaries then poof they are gone again! I have no idea what is wrong! Is it the clonex that I am using? I stoped using it on my 1940 Ureña and look at it! I don’t think I will use clonex next year.

Both pumpkins are on DAP 8, and I scratched the 1695 so I’m going to call it ScarFace. The 1940 Aborted and I am going to pollinate agin in about 3 days. I think the 1695 might have stopped growing. :(

Plants have practically thripled in the last 10 days, especially the 1940 Ureña. If I get a fruit set on it I think I can get the plant to 800sq ft and hopefully beat my pb. I don’t think my others are going to go over 300 pounds though. I am going to make my goal for the 1940 Ureña plant 704 pounds. I hope I meet it.

Pollinated a nice 4 Lober on the 1940 Ureña. It will give me only 80 days to grow… this is probably the last pollination on this site lol.

This pumpkin is Dap 10, on the 1215. Growing surprisingly fast compared to relative plant size. It is a bit larger than last year at dap 10 too! Also, I did give the plants like 6 cups of gypsum and 1/2 table spoons of borax through my fertilizer injector. I added the Borax for boron and used the opportunity to also throw in some calcium, because I’ve heard that they go well together. Additionally I also added 0.4 oz of copper sulfate a few days ago, that is only half to fix the deficiency, but I am adding it in slowly.

Friday, July 22 View Page
My 1695 aborted /: as you can see it is much smaller compared to the 1215, and is squishy… Luckily I have a backup on that plant :) Also, Ashton I am happy to help!

Monday, July 25 View Page
Looks like we are going to have a cool week! Hopefully the pumpkins will take advantage of this nice cool week. No 100s! :))))

Tuesday, July 26 View Page
This is the 1215 Dap 15 ur has some weird coloring going on it. Hopefully it dose not abort… growth has slowed down. 25circ + 17 side to side + 18 end to end = total OTT 60

Tuesday, July 26 View Page
This is the 1695 Booth, nice growth starting on it, only DAP 8 or 9. 24+17+17 = 58 OTT All plants got about 5oz of Tree and shrub systemic (Fert Injector) a few days ago, which is diluted Imadocloripid. I also sprayed 0.44 teaspoon of Procure fungicide, which is a systemic fungicide to help with powdery Mildew. Additionally I have been spraying the leafs with powdery mildew starting with milk.

This is the 1940 Ureña plant. It is quite amazing how much a plant with basically no secondaries can change so much in 20 days! Not the small mini weak secondaries in the back are becoming strong and growing really fast! I reeeeaaaaaaly need the pollination to take, because now I have atleast 30 good secondaries ready to support the baby kin. The yellow line is the divider between the 1940 and the 1695…

Wednesday, July 27 View Page
This is the Super tiny 1215 Young. I really like the growth in this plant… vey aggressive, strong leaders and stems. Maybe if I just got my micros in soon enough?

Wednesday, July 27 View Page
This is the 1695 Booth, another pretty small plant. Sadly it is the only one with a fast growing pumpkin… I think the kin from this plant could beat my pb, because it is growing faster than last year. But the real goal is to really take it home with the 1940 Ureña…

Friday, August 5 View Page
The backup on the 1695 Booth has been situated, and I am not sure of the exact DAP, but I’m gonna call it DAP 15. 74.5 OTT = 30circ+23e to to+ 21.5 ss I think the 1940 finally has one set, once again, not sure of the exact age, so I am going to call it DAP 10 today. The 1940 Ureña is about 800 sqft ft now and the 1695 Booth is about 400 Sqft.

I got a really nice picture of the the patch. It would have been better if you could see this pumpkins tho, just waiting for them to grow grow and GROW.

Monday, August 8 View Page
I’ve got a bug of a ugly pumpkin on the 1940 Ureña, this was a open pollinated, so I’m not sure if it got pollinated good. Currently the fastest grower in the patch. Here’s the numbers: DAP 13 35.5 circ + 23.5 s t s + 25 e t e = 84 OTT.

Monday, August 8 View Page
This is the 1695 Booth. It is growing pretty good considering it’s plant size. It’s growth rate is steadily increasing. Numbers: DAP 17 38+27+27.5= 93 OTT

This guy is the reason why we don’t have critters lol. We kinda have a symbiotic relationship, I give nice shade and shelter, and he takes care of the critters! There are like 5 cats I’ve seen in my patch, and I have seen little kittens under the shed, so I’m sure that there are many ferals out there.

Tuesday, August 16 View Page
I kinda freaked out about all the heat coming here, but the shade cloth must really be doing it’s work! I rushed to the patch right after school to give it a over head watering, but it was not needed, so I gave it some Humic Acid and Seaweed through the fert injector. I’ve also been supplementing with Marks Mixes, and I will start using AgSil16H as soon as I figure out how to use it lol. Anyways here are my numberz no photo, because I forgot to take them lol. DAP 21 Punkio 2.0 (Ureña Plant): 69 circ + 43.5 e to e + 42 s t s = 154 OTT, almost a hundred pounds! DAP 26 Oreo (Booth Plant) 62.5 circ + 42 s t s + 42.5 e t e = 147 OTT, about 85 pounds

DAP 39, Punkio 2.0 is about 304 pounds might reach 600 if it goes heavy. The whole of next week, there won’t be a day cooler than 109. The heat has been tourture for the pumpkins. The Spidermites are raging, and powdery mildew is also starting. I have done 2 sprays Avid, but these kites seem unstoppable!

Tbh this heat is just kinda depressing. We are not going to have a day under 109 over the next week. Makes me regret not putting in misters!
