Sunday, December 12 View Page I've added quite a bit of our own compost over the last two years, in addition to the 30 yards I ordered in 2019. I'm interested to find out where the soil's at. I collected a large soil sample yesterday before the rain, and I'll be taking it in this week.   Sunday, December 12 View Page Here's the soil test from before I ever added anything to the soil, January 2019. The soil was already pretty decent, aside from low potassium, sulfur, micros, and organic matter. Calcium and magnesium are at a pretty good ratio, and are both present in decent quantity. I'm hoping that the addition of compost and whatever fertilizers I applied in accordance with this test have gotten everything up a bit. I'm expecting organic matter to have increased, obviously, as well as everything across the board, resulting in a higher CEC. However my guess is that I'll probably need to do some work to get the values where I want them. We'll see   Tuesday, December 14 View Page Just rained. We've got more coming I'm hoping it'll be dry enough to add amendments and plant a spring cover crop before I leave for school in January. If not it's fine, I can always plant a bit later, and if I'm lucky the weeds will come up first so I can spray them.   Tuesday, December 14 View Page Patch diagram with 4x4 walking beams raised above the soil to prevent compaction.
