The greenhouse plastic is on, Briar and Blake are going to be great helpers this year, we’re hoping to beat our biggest pumpkin of 1810 pounds! I figure they’re both good for about 1000 pounds each haha!

All the fertilizer is down and tilled in for the 2 plants inside the greenhouse and the one outside. I put shade cloth up again this year in the greenhouse, I didn’t last year. I think it’ll help a lot with keeping it cool again. The soil cables are also in the ground and the 6’ x 6’ hoop house is up outside. I’ll start the seeds on Thursday, the 2469 Daletas, 2416 Haist, and the 2114 Wallace.

Planted the seeds last night! Briar said she’s ready to be a real good helper this year! So hopefully it’ll be team Bernstrom this year with the pumpkins.

1990.5 pounds, the new Minnesota State record, and first place in the Stillwater Harvestfest weighoff! A huge thank you to Mallory and the girls for putting up with my crazy hobby! It’s always been a goal of mine to set the Minnesota state record and win Stillwater. Also thank you to all the growers who have helped me with advice! I made the 5100 pound club again this year, 5176.5!

The patch is all tilled up and ready for spring. We live way to far north to plant a cover crop after the weighoffs so I haul a big load of old cow manure in each fall. I’ll add my fertilizer and goodies in the spring. Was very happy how the year went, set the MN state record for 2 days at 1990.5, until Tiger King came along haha, and won the Stillwater weighoff. Ended the year with a combined weight of the 3 pumpkins at 5176.5. Due to Travis’s Monster at 2350, my goal next year is 2400 pounds! Happy winter to everyone! Stay healthy
