Transplanted these 3 into 2 gallon grow bags today. The 2 on the right are both 1501.5 Wagner. The other is my own 260 Grubbs. The 2- 1200 Engel seedlings will get transplanted in a day or 2. And it's looking like the 993.2 Vincent/McGill isn't going to germinate.

Transplanted the 2, 1200 Engel seedlings into 2 gallon bags this afternoon. Started more seeds also. 1807.5 Holub squash and 566 Winey squash. Since the 993.2 Vincent/McGill still hasn't germinated, I started a 1372.5 LaRue to take its' place.

I was planning to put the plants in the patch tomorrow. Looks like I'm gonna be waiting a few more days now. 5 inches of heavy, wet snow and maybe more in the forecast. Just glad I didn't have the whole screenhouse put together.

Hoping to plant in the patch this weekend. Mother nature just doesn't want to cooperate. Bringing snow, rain, and cold temps. My best plants at this point: top is my 260 Grubbs(1734.5 Clementz x 1374 Engel), middle 2 are 1501.5 Wagner, and bottom is a 1200 Engel. Backups are now up and growing.

I finally got the plants put in the patch today. Only 3 weeks later than originally planned. Dang weather. 1200 Engel and 1501.5 Wagner will share the main patch with a spot for an 1807.5 Holub squash to go in on the east end of the patch. My 260 Grubbs ended up being the best plant out of the other options and will go in the 2nd patch. I'm excited about the potential of my 260. It is the 1734.5 Clementz x 1374 Engel. These are the biggest plants I have ever transplanted.

Zelda (1200 Engel x 1501.5 Wagner is DAP 45. Estimates at 475lbs. Her growth rate has plummeted to 10lbs a day. I discovered a mouse was living under her. I took action to remove the mouse and have seen no more activity around the pumpkin. But, I fear damage may have been done.

Hilda (1501.5 Wagner x 1200 Engel) is at DAP 70. Still going about 7.5lbs a day. If she goes to chart and if my measurements are right, she is within 50lbs of my personal best with a little under 3 weeks to go. Nights are getting colder. Hopefully she can pack on those last few pounds she needs.

Very happy with how my season turned out. My top goal was to win the Howard Dill at each weighoff I went to, and I did it. 2 pumpkins, 2 Howard Dills. Now to rest for a few days and then clean up and plan for 2020!

Tuesday, November 12 View Page
Very happy with my germination tests! After 2 1/2 days I have 100% germination on both Hilda(808 Grubbs) and Zelda(642 Grubbs). The seeds from Zelda seem more vigorous as they had much bigger roots starting.
