The patch is tilled and ready to go, having had some expert help in determining the prescription to balance the soil, per the soil test. The patch is 50' shorter.....so fewer plants getting maximum attention.

I finally have electric to the garden. So heating cables are installed, huts are in place and covered with plastic. Getting the planting areas warmed up will help to avoid those nasty seed corn maggots!

Boo hoo! Water line to the garden separated 4 feet down - so no water! Had to wait to get a backhoe to dig down to find the leak and repair it.

Here is the current patch status. This is the 1810 Werner. It, and the 1501 VW, are both at 18' - but not quite ready to pollinate.

1364 Geyelin and 609 Harnica were planted late. Look for beautiful bright orange pumpkins from both of them!

This is the "jack-o-lantern and specialty pumpkin patch". It will have 3,000 sq. ft. this year. The "Swain mystery medley patch" will have 1,800 sq. ft. Special thanks to Tom Swain for sending the baggie of seeds each year. Patch guests love finding unusual surprises growing there!

The most amazing thing has happened in my "regular pumpkin" patch. The crazy crazy amounts of rain we've had, has surfaced all these rocks!

1501 VW is the first to hit 20 days. The young leaves burn easily, so the ends of the vines are covered with shade cloth, ready for the string of 90+ degree days we're having.
